Commercially Pure Grade 2
UNS R50400W.Nr 3.7035Ti2 / Ti99.7
Request a quote for Commercially Pure Grade 2CP Grade 2 is the workhorse commercially pure titanium and the most widely used unalloyed grade. It balances strength, formability, weldability and corrosion resistance, which is why most chemical processing, marine and general industrial titanium hardware is specified in Grade 2.
Its corrosion resistance in seawater, chlorides and oxidizing acids is essentially that of pure titanium, which is excellent.
Stocked in sheet, plate, bar, tube, wire and foil, with cut blanks available.

Typical published values for reference only, not for design. Properties vary with section size, product form and processing. Order to the specification and condition your drawing requires.
Typical applications
- Chemical and desalination equipment
- Marine hardware and piping
- Heat exchangers and condensers
- Medical and dental components
Fabrication notes
Machining
Titanium runs at low surface speed with heavy positive feed, sharp tooling, rigid fixturing and high volume coolant. Dwelling glazes the surface and work hardens it. Chips are combustible, so manage swarf. We can supply rough machined, saw cut, waterjet or near net blanks to cut down the metal removed.
Welding
Readily weldable by GTAW, plasma, electron beam and laser processes with full inert gas shielding of the pool, root and cooling weld. Contamination shows up as colour on the bead and as embrittlement, so shielding and cleanliness govern the result.
Forming
Cold formability is limited compared with steel, so hot forming, generous bend radii and stress relief after forming are normal practice. Surfaces must be clean of iron pickup before heat treatment.
Commercially Pure Grade 2 compared with similar grades
CP Grade 1
Softer and more formable, lower strength.
CP Grade 3
Higher strength for pressure rated components.

Commercially Pure Grade 2 frequently asked questions
What is Commercially Pure Grade 2?
CP Grade 2 is the workhorse commercially pure titanium and the most widely used unalloyed grade. It balances strength, formability, weldability and corrosion resistance, which is why most chemical processing, marine and general industrial titanium hardware is specified in Grade 2.
What forms is Commercially Pure Grade 2 available in?
We supply Commercially Pure Grade 2 in coil, sheet, plate, bar, tube. Custom sizes are converted from billet, and we can provide saw cut, waterjet or near net blanks so material arrives closer to your finished part.
What is the UNS or equivalent designation for Commercially Pure Grade 2?
Commercially Pure Grade 2 is designated UNS R50400, Werkstoff 3.7035, EN Ti2 / Ti99.7. If your drawing calls out an obsolete or foreign designation we can cross reference it and confirm the equivalent before you order.
What specifications can Commercially Pure Grade 2 be supplied to?
Commonly ordered specifications include AMS 4902, AMS 4942, ASTM B265, ASTM B348, UNS R50400. Material is released to the specification and condition on your purchase order, with mill test reports supplied as standard.
What conditions can Commercially Pure Grade 2 be ordered in?
We can supply Annealed. If our stock is not already in the condition you need, we can quote it with the heat treatment performed before shipment.
Can you cut Commercially Pure Grade 2 to size?
Yes. Saw cutting, waterjet, laser and shearing are available, along with trepanning, gun drilling, lathe turning and CNC machining, so you can order blanks or rough machined pieces rather than full lengths.
Do you provide test reports and additional testing on Commercially Pure Grade 2?
Every order ships with mill test reports and heat traceability. If your print calls for ultrasonic inspection, penetrant dye, magnetic particle, chemical assay, micrography, hardness or mechanical testing and our stock does not already carry it, we can quote the material with that work performed.
Can Commercially Pure Grade 2 be supplied to DFARS domestic melt requirements?
Tell us at quote stage if the order is DFARS or domestic melt restricted and we will confirm availability against that requirement before you commit.
What do you need to quote Commercially Pure Grade 2?
Grade, form, dimensions, quantity, specification and condition, plus any testing or certification requirements and the date you need it. Send a drawing if you have one. Quotes are typically ready within 24 hours.
How does Commercially Pure Grade 2 compare with CP Grade 1?
Softer and more formable, lower strength.
